JMPD’s top-performing commander comes from Region C

The Johannesburg Metro Police Department’s (JMPD) acting deputy director for Region C, Superintendent Wandile Mrubata, was recently named the best performing commander for the month of September.

A hard-working Mrubata, who was selected over eight other deputy directors from across the city, said he earned the title after conducting numerous joint operations, enforcing by-laws and managing traffic flow.

According to the Region C activity stats released by the JMPD’s Chief of Police, David Tembe, who congratulated Mrubata, he managed to be part of five drunken driving operations, during which a total of 62 suspects were arrested, among many other successes.

Mrubata, who also happens to be an award-wining officer for Best Superintendent Award at the annual JMPD Heroes Awards last year, told Northsider he felt as if he was on top of the world and motivated enough to take on a bigger role. “This goes to show that I can be a director one day,” a highly motivated Mrubata said laughingly.
