UPDATE: Taxi driver shooter in court tomorrow

He was arrested after a high-speed chase from Ruimsig which ended in the Douglasdale area where he was cornered by the police.

 

Alleged taxi shooter, Johannes Lubbe, is expected to return to court tomorrow, Thursday, 26 September.

Lubbe, was arrested after allegedly shooting at a taxi driver multiple times on Doreen Road next to the Ruimsig Boulevard Shopping Centre in July.

He was arrested after a high-speed chase from Ruimsig which ended in the Douglasdale area where he was cornered by the police.

At his last appearance in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court last month, during which he was remanded in custody for further investigation, Lubbe faced a case of attempted murder.

Previously, his lawyer, Jannie Kruger, wanted to refer Lubbe for private psychiatric assessment since booking him into a public facility, namely Sterkfontein Psychiatric Hospital, would result in delays.
