CHOC and Nutrikids aim for lucky number six

As part of the fundraising initiative, a donation from each Nutrikids product sold throughout South Africa will be made towards the CHOC house.

The CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation was established 40 years ago by parents who had experienced the immense emotional and financial toll that cancer takes on a family. These parents realised that in families where a child is suffering from cancer or a life-threatening blood disorder, the child is not the only victim. This is why the Foundation aims to provide countrywide support to not only the children who are affected, but their families too.

As a non-profit organisation (NPO), CHOC relies on donations from individuals and groups wanting to make a difference in the lives of these children. One of the corporate sponsors that supports the organisation, and has been doing so for the past 11 years, is Clover. Clover has helped obtain funding for five houses so far which provide a home away from home for families whose children are affected by cancer and need to travel long distances to receive treatment.

“Clover has been and is the most amazing partner. For the past 11 years, the company has supported CHOC. Their extensive generosity over the years has meant that thousands of children, teens, and parents who otherwise had nowhere to stay, found a home, care, and love at a CHOC House,” said Carl Queiros, CEO at the CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA.

On 17 September, in the middle of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, it was announced that Clover Nutrikids and CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA would be using their partnership to begin another fundraising initiative. The funds obtained from this specific initiative will be used for the purchasing and building of a new Clover Nutrikids CHOC house.

This will be the sixth house facilitated and donated to CHOC by Clover over the past few years and will be situated in Port Elizabeth. In 2018, the investments and fundraising efforts of Clover Nutrikids earned close to R2 million which was used for the fifth house, located in Pretoria.

“CHOC is all about keeping hope alive, and Clover Nutrikids makes life good for moms and way better for kids. With these two brands working together, we believe in creating hope for all children in South Africa affected by cancer. We will spend the next 10 months partnering with CHOC to help raise much-needed funds through a portion of our Nutrikids product sales to ensure that this sixth Clover Nutrikids CHOC House becomes a reality,” said Edith Molepo, Brand Group Manager for Nutrikids.

As part of the fundraising initiative, a donation from each Nutrikids product sold throughout South Africa will be made towards the CHOC house.
