On this day in 1987, Tom Felton was born

Tom Felton is a British actor who is best known for his role as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter film series.

Born in Epsom, England on 22 September 1987, Thomas Andrew Felton grew up as the youngest of four boys (his three brothers are Ashley, Jonathan, and Chris). He started acting at a very young age, and like most others, began with several commercials. He made his film debut as a cast member of The Borrowers in 1997 when he was 10 years old.

His worldwide acclaim came in 2001, when he portrayed the villain that everyone loves to hate, Draco Malfoy, in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Tom really wanted a role in the movie, having also auditioned for the roles of Ron Weasley and Harry Potter; however, he landed the role of Draco and portrayed the character in all eight movies.

After Harry Potter, Tom appeared in a few television series such as Labyrinth, Full Circle, and Murder in the First. Tom also had a recurring role in The Flash, but left the series at the end of its fifth season; allegedly because he was ‘too expensive’. He has also had a few film roles in movies such as Megan Leavey, Against the Sun and The Apparition. He has been in nine television roles and 28 movies.

Tom has also won seven of the 10 awards he has been nominated for, for his acting.

Andrea Bocelli is also celebrating his birthday today, as well as Billie Piper and Joan Jett.
