Invitation to expert analysis of unemployment

The event will be held on Wednesday, 25 September at 6.30pm in the Pelindaba Chamber at the Roodepoort Civic Centre at 100 Christiaan De Wet Drive.

Ward 89 councillor Amelia Bester is again inviting residents to come out and get some food for thought from David Ansara, a chief operating officer from the Centre for Risk Analysis (CRA) who will be discussing the critical issue of unemployment.

Amelia said the unemployment rate in South Africa reached 29 per cent in the second quarter of 2019, the highest level since 2003. The youth are worst affected, with 56,4 per cent of 15- to 24-year-olds officially classified as unemployed.

David, a regular speaker at conferences and events where he discusses the political economy of South Africa and its future scenario, will conduct a presentation and discussion focusing on following topics: ‘What are the causes of mass unemployment?’; ‘How has the SA labour market changed in recent years?’; and ‘What role does government economic policy play?’.

The event will be held on Wednesday, 25 September at 6.30pm in the Pelindaba Chamber at the Roodepoort Civic Centre at 100 Christiaan De Wet Drive.
