Grade 7s beautify environment with Cape holly trees

Arbor Week was commemorated from 1 to 7 September, and the learners did their bit to beautify their environment by planting two Ilex mitis or Cape holly trees.

 

Trinityhouse Preparatory School Grade 7 learners added more green to their schooling environment when they planted trees for Arbor Week.

Although the 2019 tree of the year is DescriptionSclerocarya birrea or marula, which prefers bush veld rather than high veld areas, the school went with the Cape holly, which more suited to this climate. It is a medium-large evergreen tree with a dense crown. Its flowers are scented and its red berries attract birds.
