Two young chefs from Trinityhouse Little Falls Preparatory School are set to battle it out in the final leg of the Taste Bud Battle cook-off on Saturday, 14 September.
The youngsters, 11-year-old Carleigh Palmer and six-year-old Tyron Hardy Kleynhans, earned their way to the finals of this kitchen battle after impressing the judges with their mouth-watering dishes during the early days of the competition.

The Taste Bud Battle initially began in January this year when, through a social media and print campaign, children were encouraged to create a ‘character dessert’ – a dessert inspired by a fictitious character or fantasy story. The Trinityhouse Little Falls representatives did exactly that and more, which landed them in the Top 10 and final round of this competition.
Regarding the competition, contact media COO, Donna Verrydt, said: “We’ve been blown away by the response to the Taste Bud Battle. We planned a three-year strategy around this campaign, and the response was so positive that much of what we planned for Year 3 has already been implemented in Year 1,” she said, adding that the overwhelming reception encouraged them to conduct road shows across major cities in the country to meet their next candidates.

The upcoming finals will be held at the Capsicum Culinary Studio on Keyes Avenue in Rosebank from 9am until 6pm (different time slots for different age categories).
