AfriForum’s successful visibility patrols

AfriForum's Roodepoort branch and neighbourhood watch are proud of the success of their visibility patrols.

AfriForum’s Roodepoort neighbourhood watch participated in and conducted various safety actions and raids during August.

On 16 August, they partnered with various policing forums and security organisations to conduct the monthly mass visibility patrol.

“AfriForum’s Roodepoort branch and neighbourhood watch are proud to safeguard the community in cooperation with the Police, community policing forums (CPFs) and other security companies. With solidarity and support between these entities, we are able to combat crime,” said De Wet Ungerer, AfriForum’s Assistant Coordinator for the West Rand.

During the patrol, raids and roadblocks were mobilised in various areas under the supervision of the police. Numerous arrests were made, and illegal firearms and drugs were confiscated. On 26 August, a number of prepared poison sachets were also found and confiscated during a night patrol.

Ungerer has expressed pride in the participation of the community in the patrols, saying that the participation is what makes them successful.
