City to lodge claim against driver
On 31 August, a car drove into the substation on Van Dalen Road South in Ruimsig, resulting in unforeseen expenditure for the City.

Ward 97 councillor, Leah Knott, said steps were to be taken against the occupant. “Replacement cost on a minisub is roughly R700 000. An insurance claim will be lodged with the driver’s particulars but you can imagine the cost to the city when over 40 per cent of the damage to infrastructure is caused by motor vehicle accidents and not all of it can be recouped via insurance,” she said.
