Every five years, the Gateway School hoss a Revue, showcasing the many talents of their learners. Months of hard work and practice are put into making each event a showstopper, and their most recent Revue was no exception.
Three hundred and forty-six learners and 80 staff members put their all into making sure that Tour De Carnival was a show for the books. The Revue was held at the Roodepoort Civic Theatre from 13 to 16 August and told the story of two jokers making their way to the carnival and taking a few detours along the way.

Each of the eight scenes showed a stop on the jokers’ journey, and small lessons were hidden in each detour. Not only did the Revue show off the incredible talent of the Gateway School learners, but it also tackled many issues – from bullying to perseverance.
All the props used in the show were made and perfected by teachers and staff at the school, and the creativity and hard work put into making them was evident. This Revue was the perfect collaboration of humour, art, and talent to make four awe-inspiring performances. The Randfontein Arts and Culture Association (RACA) awarded the school a Diamond Award (95 to 100 per cent) for this amazing show.

The Revue featured everything from princesses and taxi drivers, to aliens and dancing cupcakes; the audience laughed, cried, danced and sang along for the entire show. “It is amazing what these children can accomplish when they are just given the chance,” said one of the audience members.
All of the effort put into making this show a success had paid off – the learners and staff were happy, and the audience was beyond impressed.
