The new male eagle has a name

The Black Eagle Project Roodekrans (BEPR) is happy to announce that a staff member at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden has named the new male eagle “Mahlori”, which means ‘miracle’.

The name was submitted by Daniel Makasani, who is a foreman at the Botanical Garden.

BEPR Chairman, Gerald Draper said, “As a project, we are happy to adopt this name going forward and just wish all the best for the eagle couple.”

Gerald also mentioned that they are waiting for the sex of Makatsa’s deceased chick to be revealed, but the laboratory at Onderstepoort has not come back to them yet.
