A possible hijacking is being investigated after a woman who was in distress, informed law enforcement about her vehicle which was allegedly forcefully taken away from her on the corner of Hendrik Potgieter and Jim Fouché Roads in Weltevreden Park today, 24 August.
In a statement by BCI Security, the company was alerted by the Honeydew CPF members that a woman was found on Jim Fouché Road crying and informing them that she had just been hijacked.

“The CPF members alerted the Honeydew Reservists members who immediately attended to the scene. A lookout was circulated and BCI Security was asked to assist with tracking the cell phone of the woman, which was still in the hijacked vehicle.”
“It was established that the hijackers were known to the victim. BCI and CPF members searched in a couple of locations to no avail.”
“A short while later a call was received of a motor vehicle accident on the bend of the N1 and Hendrik Potgieter Road,” the statement read.
It went on to state that the Honeydew CPF members and BCI Security rushed to the scene and, upon arrival, discovered that the vehicle involved in the accident, was the vehicle that was reported hijacked.
“Various first responders, towing companies and law enforcement departments also attended to the scene.”

“Eye witnesses pointed out that one of the occupants was running away from the accident scene towards the N1 highway.”
“Again, the Honeydew CPF members and BCI reaction rushed to the N1 where the BCI reaction officer managed to stop one of the occupants of the vehicle. While the first occupant was being questioned on the whereabouts of the second occupant, a person got up from the greenbelt area next to the N1 and started running away”.
“Our BCI officer gave chase and caught up with the person about 150 meters away from where the Honeydew CPF members were waiting with the first occupant of the vehicle.
The vehicle was searched for illegal substances by BCI’s K9 unit.
Both occupants were handed over to the medics on scene who transported them both to hospital.
The whole dramatic incident is believed to have stemmed from a domestic issue and in fact not a hijacking; however, the matter is being investigated by the police, according to the report.
