Patrols like this are set to become a regular occurrence in the different sectors of Roodepoort, with volunteers from each sector participating in each blitz.

On Wednesday, 14 August a full day patrol was conducted, starting in Sector 1 and moving through to Sectors 2 and 3. The Police have said that even though, before Saturday, the patrols had only been conducted during the day, they have already shown a positive impact on crime.

Sector 2 was chosen to be the first area for a night blitz due to the large number of crime reports that usually come in on a Saturday night from around the area. The patrol was a success, with 12 suspects being arrested in total.
