Self-defence for Women’s Day charity event

The purpose of this charity was to raise funds and necessary items required for the women in the shelter such as clothes, bedding, sanitary items and toiletries.

 

Triple Threat Dojo hosted a self-defence charity event for the Frida Hartley Women’s Shelter on 9 August at the Triple Threat gym in Little Falls.

The purpose of this event was to raise funds and necessary items required for the women in the shelter such as clothes, bedding, sanitary items and toiletries.

Wade Rendall, owner of the dojo, said, “We managed to raise over R2 000, with a few more donations coming during the week.”

The women who donated these items were taught basic striking, grappling and self-defence techniques as well as awareness of their surroundings, and preventing an attack.

Wade said, “The purpose of this self-defence class was to empower women in safety and to make them understand that regardless of the situation or how strong the attacker is, there are many ways to defend yourself.”
