The area surrounding the Ruimsig Boulevard Shopping Centre has been cordoned off as a crime scene following a dramatic shooting during which a taxi was shot at multiple times before crashing into a perimeter fence on Doreen Road, this morning, Friday, 26 July.
The taxi was struck by a hail of bullets, apparently from a gun-wielding motorist, following what appears to have been a road rage incident.

According to information gathered from the scene, the shooting ensued after a taxi and a light motor vehicle bumped into each other.

At the scene, it was reported that the motorist leapt out of his car, wielding two guns, which he fired at the taxi. The taxi veered off the road and plunged into the perimeter fence outside the shopping centre. A number of bullets shattered the windscreen of the taxi. The taxi driver was rushed to hospital while the motorist fled the scene with the police in hot pursuit.
It is said that he fired shots at the police during the chase and was eventually arrested in the Douglasdale area.

Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan, has confirmed both the shooting incident and the arrest of the motorist.
