Students, beware!

NSFAS has also issued a scam alert to students about fraudsters who are impersonating NSFAS officials.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has urged students to ignore the message about applications making the rounds on social media.

The message claims that NSFAS will open applications for 2020 funding on Thursday, 1 August.

“This is fake, please ignore it! Application dates for the 2020 academic year have not been announced. We advise prospective students to monitor our website and social media pages for updates regarding the application dates,” said the statement that was released by the funding scheme.

NSFAS has also issued a scam alert to students about fraudsters who are impersonating NSFAS officials and calling students to request their NSFAS wallet passwords.

“Please note that we will never request your wallet password. If you receive a call requesting your account details, do not comply. Immediately call our contact centre on the toll-free number 08000 67327 to report the matter,” said NSFAS.
