I enjoyed reading the Editor’s Note from the newly appointed editor of the Roodepoort Record and Roodepoort Northsider.
I could not help but think that people will probably read it and make typical remarks like, ‘a new broom sweeps cleanest’, ‘it is still early days’ or ‘wait and see if she’ll cope with this big responsibility’.
But, I want to tell the many readers in Roodepoort that they have seen nothing yet! The readers do not know that this young woman has worked very hard to achieve her lifelong goal and fulfil her childhood dream to become a journalist.
The editor of these newspapers is a sports fanatic and, I have to confess, I am a bit scared of her when she watches rugby. (Especially if her team is losing!)
But jokes aside, she is a wonderful mother to two beautiful daughters and a devoted wife. She’s passionate about children and animals. If she says she’s going to make things happen … well, you better believe it!
Congratulations Adéle, I’m proud of you. Keep on believing in yourself and you’ll be phenomenal.
