Baby Marno – Second cochlear implant switched on

He went for his second cochlear implant on 10 June at Netcare Waterfall City Hospital. This second implant would help him to have bilateral hearing and help with localising sounds.

He went for his second cochlear implant on 10 June at Netcare Waterfall City Hospital. This second implant would help him to have bilateral hearing and help with localising sounds.

Marno’s father, Emile Greyvenstein, said, “He showed amazing responses to stimulation in his left cochlea. Over the next months we will slowly increase the volume on all the electrodes until the left ear balances with the right.”

In June, Marno was thought to have contracted swine flu but the blood test results came back indicating that he had pneumonia, so he was put on antibiotics.

The little fighter put on a brave fight once again and once his lungs and vitals signs had normalised, he was taken home.

Emile said, “Thank you so much to all who have been involved in some or other way in making this amazing blessing possible. Your prayers, funds and well wishes are truly appreciated.”
