EARTH Centre gives children a new experience

The EARTH Centre treated about 20 children from Golang Educational Outreach, a centre for underprivileged children in Zandspruit, to an equine experience for Mandela Day, 18 July.
“The children came from a variety of areas and schools in Zandspruit. The aim was to give them a change of scenery and get them out into nature for a little, to somewhere they could just have fun, relax and interact with the horses,” said Nicole Ras, the organisation’s marketing coordinator.
The children got to touch, brush and play with the horses.
Obviously the centre needed more hands on deck than usual to accommodate 20 children. Individuals from Pro-Opts and Just Get Wood, which donated a hoist to assist with horsing riding activities, came out to assist the children with some activities and also did some maintenance work around the facility.
The day concluded with lunch in the form of pizzas and cool drinks, which were sponsored by Pizza Del Forno in Featherbrooke.
