Let’s help our four-legged friends by donating what they need, this Mandela Day
Everyone is invited to come and volunteer their time and donate anything they can, be it clothing, food or blankets.
Celeste Vermeulen, the founder of non-profit organisation Feed-the-Furry, is calling on all community members who want to lend a helping hand this Mandela Day, 18 July, to join her as she will be spending her day at the Community Led Animal Welfare organisation (CLAW).
She said that everyone is invited to come and volunteer their time and donate anything they can, be it clothing, food or blankets.
“I have decided to do something of my own for Mandela Day. I am going to take food and blankets to CLAW, and I am going to be making a whole lot of sandwiches for the children in the settlements around CLAW,” said Celeste.
She explained that her venture will be paid for out of Feed-the-Furry’s own pocket and none of the donations received for the food drive will be used for this event.
In the spirit of helping, she is also appealing to the community to help her reach her goal of delivering animal food to two shelters during the month of July.
“I am pleading to the community to continue donating animal food and anything else they can to keep the furry warm this winter,” said Celeste.
Mama Kasi Rescue and Cast Aways Animal Sanctuary are the two shelters that were in need and received donations from Feed-the-Furry in June.
Anyone willing to donate can contact Celeste on 081 408 7724 or email her at info@feed-the-furry.org.za.
