Honeydew police arrest suspects with cellphone tower batteries

He said 10 boxes of cellphone tower batteries, each with an estimated value of R14 000, were recovered.

 

A recent random crime prevention patrol by Honeydew Police yielded positive results in the form of the arrest of two suspects who were found to be in possession of suspected stolen cellphone tower batteries in Cosmo City.

“Information was given to the police and the officers followed up on it. The suspects tried to bribe the police officers but failed to do and were arrested,” said Captain Balan Muthan, Honeydew Police spokesperson.

He said 10 boxes of cellphone tower batteries, each with an estimated value of R14 000, were recovered. The vehicle driven by the suspects was also taken away for inspection.

The arresting officers, Constables Sello Mqwatoana and Solly Masinqe were commended for refusing the bribe and bringing the suspects to book.
