Family appeals for new pram

The family of a disabled teenager living in Driefontein, Muldersdrift, is appealing to businesses, organisations and individuals to assist them in refurbishing his specialised pram, or purchasing a new one.
Eighteen-year-old Thami Molefe, who was born with several physical and mental defects that have prevented him from being a normal child, currently relies on his special pram, which was donated to him last year.

Since Thami is confined to his specially adapted pram, it, like any other constantly used item, has gone through a lot of wear and tear, although it was only purchased about 18 months ago.
Thami’s sister, Kedibone, explained why the pram has worn out so quickly. “My brother uses the pram for everything. We normally have to wash it a lot to keep it hygienic, which has resulted in the covers and the sponge supporting the structure tearing off,” she said.

She also made it clear that the appeal is solely to help her brother. “We are not trying to make a business out of Thami. He receives a social grant every month which supports his needs,” she clarified.
To help the family, contact Kedibone on 079 847 2949, or Kingston Nhlanhla Banda, a child and youth supervisor at Bethany House on 060 764 8318 or 011 660 2763 (during office hours).
