Grant Seagreen is appealing to the community to assist him to find the car that crashed into him on Friday evening, 5 July.
Seagreen said they would like to find out if there were any eyewitnesses to the accident or if anyone knows the vehicle.
“On Friday evening at approximately 7pm, my girlfriend and I were travelling up CR Swart Drive in Roodekrans in the direction of Ontdekkers Road, on the way to buy pizzas from Wilrogate Shopping Centre, when we noticed that there was a vehicle that was being driven recklessly behind us. It was all over the road. As we approached Mimosa Road, the traffic light turned red and when I stopped, the vehicle bumped lightly into my car’s towbar. It didn’t seem serious,” said Seagreen.

However, when he got out of his vehicle to investigate the damage, the offending driver speedily reversed his vehicle, and then put his foot to the floor, driving straight at Seagreen, knocking him over. The perpetrator promptly left the scene.
“My girlfriend noticed that the vehicle did not have number plates but could only tell that it was a white Ford Fiesta. Unfortunately I do not recall much of the event as I was hit extremely hard and bleeding profusely from my face, and in plenty of pain. My girlfriend pulled me back into our vehicle and pulled our car into the parking lot at the shopping centre where the Roodekrans Neighbourhood Watch (RNW) was called to the scene,” explained Seagreen.
Paramedics and Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) officials were called to the scene due to the severity of Seagreen’s injuries.
“While I was being stabilised and placed in the ambulance, my girlfriend gave a statement to an officer from the JMPD. I was then transported to Leratong Hospital and after many x-rays, CT scans etc, it turned out that my right foot is broken and I have severe lacerations to the right side of my face, with plenty of bruising,” he said.
Residents who might have witnessed the incident or know of a white Ford Fiesta with no number plates driving around are urged to report this to the JMPD, or alternatively contact Almien Parker from the RNW operations room on 081 043 9488.
