After heavy criticism directed at the F46 Rand Water pipeline contractor, Maziya General Services, the Panorama Residents Association chairperson, Dave Baxter, has noted some improvements regarding the concerns that were raised.
Baxter accused the contractor of not only failing to meet the deadline, but also to communicate with and resolve the concerns of the community affected by the ongoing construction in the Weltevreden Park area.

There was an oversight visit along Haak en Steek Street, which Baxter organised, involving the contractor and Ward 89 councillor Amelia Bester, who gave her views about the progress of this multi-phased project.
“I’m relieved that our inputs resulted in lids being placed on open chambers into which anyone could have fallen easily,” she said, and added, “Note that the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has not signed off on the road and the road reserve infrastructure.
“Please report all problems along the routes impacted by the F46 pipeline project,” she requested.
Baxter also gave his views. “Although we were without water after the contractor had hit a main water pipe, communication has improved. We hope they will fix everything that is of concern to the residents,” he stated.
