Golden Reef Running Club has expressed its pride in three of its runners, who between them, have completed over a half century of Comrades runs.

The successful runners are Martin Jacobs (32 runs), Bennet Maleyana (16 runs) and Rikus Kranhold (6 runs), making a total of 54 completed runs.

The athletes were each presented with a special tog bag by Eric Petersen, CEO of The Document Warehouse.

Rikus qualified for a Bill Rowan medal (which requires finishing in between seven-and-a-half and nine hours) with his time of 8:22:32, while Bennet earned a bronze medal for finishing in less than 11 hours, with his time of 10:09:37. Martin narrowly qualified for a Vic Clapham medal (which requires finishing in between 11 and 12 hours) with his time of 11:59:35.

Founder member Bill Brough said, “We want to focus on growing our membership and building the club by encouraging the youth to start running. There are lots of youngsters from the Princess Squatter Camp that need to be motivated and encouraged to participate.”

The club has long been known for doing well at the Comrades and has collected over 600 medals over the years.
