Estelle Delport, the family representative, said that they were relieved, but also a sad, “We have experienced a rollercoaster of mixed emotions, and are a trial date has finally been set. But, we are also experiencing an overwhelming sadness, anger and anxiety as it feels like we are reliving every emotion we felt the day Liyaqat went missing. We are now facing the realization that we may never see Lee again.”

She added that they can only pray that justice will prevail and not fail them. Mashinini will remain in custody until the start of trial on 29 July.
