During the court proceedings, the State requested a postponement for further investigations.

The postponement was granted, which means the accused will be back in court on Thursday, 18 July on charges of assault and crimen injuria.

Speaking to Rambebu after the appearance, he said when he saw the accused, he was filled with anger as this was the first time he’d seen him after the incident, which happened on Friday, 21 June.

“Yes, there was a bit of anger, but at the end of the day, I am comforted by the proceedings of the court and want to give it a chance to do its work. I want to allow the process of the court to continue because I believe that there will be victory,” said Rambebu.

EFF members chanted songs outside the court as they showed their support for the victim.
