The illegal mining that is happening in our area and other surrounding areas is getting out of hand. Every single morning when we wake up, there are reports that a number of people were killed overnight.
It really breaks my heart. Sometimes these illegal miners storm into our houses, demanding money and killing some of the people. This is unacceptable.
The Roodepoort Police Station is also not playing its role. We have been asking for patrol cars around Matholesville, Durban Deep and Sol Plaatje, as well as DRD, but nothing has been done.
Do they want the whole community to be killed before they act? Our government is also not doing anything about it – where is the Mayor? They wanted our vote, we voted for them and now it looks like they have totally forgotten about us and our needs.
We are tired of this, we are even scared to walk freely in the streets of our communities.
Can something please be done.
