Imphophomo hosts the 11th Annual Sports Tournament in Zandspruit

On Saturday, 15 June, Impophomo Rushing Waters, a non-profit organisation, in partnership with the Zandspruit Youth Forum, proudly hosted the 11th Annual Sports Tournament in Zandspruit informal settlement. In the run-up to this tournament, SuperSport United Soccer School conducted two workshops in Zandspruit, much to the delight and appreciation of the players and coaches.
Partners in the event also included Umsizi Sustainable Social Solutions, Northpoint City Church, and international support from Sandbox Church in Texas, USA, and churches from India and Zimbabwe, among other sponsors.
The aim of this tournament is to bring hope and purpose to the youth of Zandspruit through sports development, to build social cohesion in Zandspruit, and to promote and encourage the participation of youth of all genders in netball and soccer, with the intention of better preparing them for entrance into regional and national soccer tournaments.
It was a fun-filled and exciting day where the youth of Zandspruit took centre-stage and excelled.There were 16 soccer teams and five netball teams, and the winning teams were the 11 Attackers, the Golden Drifters and the Dangerous Divas.
The day was enjoyed by all, from the talented players to the dedicated coaches and the dozens of volunteers, not forgetting the enthusiastic spectators.
