Relax and have fun while watching a live Robin Hood show
Watch scenes from the play
The cast of The Adventures of Robin Hood made the audience relive their childhood memories and captured the hearts of the children at the opening night on Tuesday, 11 June.
Parents brought their children to enjoy the tales of Robin Hood and both young and old were kept intrigued by the show. After the show, the children had an opportunity to meet the characters and take some pictures.
Robin Hood is the story of a legendary archer who steals from the rich and gives to the needy; or that’s what everyone thinks. What makes this show different, is the fact that the audience member is afforded the opportunity to see another side of the story – as explained by the Sheriff of Nottingham.
In the Sheriff’s story, Prince John (Deànré Reiners) has a few evil plots to implement, including marrying the beautiful Maid Marian (Danielle Retief) and taking control of the entire kingdom. Robin, (Rowlen von Gericke) cannot let this happen and gathers his merry men – and another unlikely hero – to save the day again. But this time it won’t be as simple as he thinks.
Get ready for archery competitions, schemes, trickery and, to ensure the audience does not feel neglected, they play a huge role in the outcome, by making fate-altering decisions during the show.
The next scheduled performances will be on Tuesday, 18 June at 11am and 3pm (Afrikaans), Wednesday, 19 June at 11am and 3pm (English), Thursday, 20 June at 11am and 3pm (English) and Monday, 24 June at 11am and 3pm (English).
The venue is the Roodepoort Theatre, 100 Christiaan De Wet Road, Roodepoort.
