Walking for a good cause

The walk is accompanied by a sock drive and residents are being urged to donate new or old socks for the needy.

Horison Methodist Church is calling on all community members, from young to old, to join them as they host a winter walk and sock drive on Saturday, 15 June. The event will start at 10am at the Len Rutter Park in Florida.

Everyone attending has a choice of entering either the 2,5km or 5km walk.

The walk is accompanied by a sock drive and residents are being urged to donate new or old socks for the less fortunate.

The church aims to collect 2 000 pairs of socks, 1 000 more than were donated last year. The participation fee is R20 for adults and R10 for children under the age of 12 years.

Community members who are not able to attend the event but are willing to donate, can drop off all socks at the Horison Methodist Church, situated on 52 Cutten Street, Horison.

For more information regarding the event, you can contact Vanessa on 072 446 3849 or Gladys on 082 600 3079.
