Today, 16 June, we celebrate Youth Day, as well as the birthday of American golfer, Phil Mickelson.
Phil’s golf career began under his father’s instruction before he had even started school. The golfer, nicknamed Lefty, has won 44 events on the PGA Tour, including five major championships: three Masters titles, a PGA Championship and an Open Championship.
Phil is one of 16 players in the history of golf to win at least three of the four majors. He has won every major except the U.S. Open.
He was part of the Top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking for more than 25 consecutive years.
Lefty was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2012.
In 2019, he won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, shooting a bogey-free final round 65 to defeat Paul Casey by three strokes. The win was his fifth at Pebble Beach, tying with Mark O’Meara for most victories in the event.
