Keeping one another warm by donating

"Instead of throwing things away, think about the difference they could make in someone else's life"

A grateful single mother in Witpoortjie would like to express her thanks for receiving a bed for her daughter through the Witpoortjie Community Help donation campaign.

Witpoortjie Community Help is facilitated by Natalie Swart and the community as a whole, who pledge their products to help the less fortunate. Now a little girl will enjoy warm nights with her own bed and blankets.

A grateful mother said,”I am extremely thankful to Natalie for giving my daughter her own little bed. Previously I only had a little sponge mattress for her to sleep on and with the temperatures dropping, I cannot thank her enough. She did not only give my daughter a bed, she gave her bedding and a warm blanket and a few toys as well. My daughter was very happy and seeing her happy face brought tears to my eyes.”

She added, “Being a single mother, I did not have the funds to buy her her own bed. We were given the mattress by a friend so she could have her own little space to call her room, but now on receiving her own bed she loves being in her room, and no longer wants to get in bed with me.”

The woman urged the community to keep donating.

“Instead of throwing things away, think about the difference they could make in someone else life. The smallest contribution can make the biggest difference,” she said.

There is unfortunately still a lot to be done to help the community, as the organisation does not have enough products to fill all the needs. Natalie pleaded with the community to keep donating as they are running short of items.

Natalie said, “It seems that most of the people who contact me are in need, but we can only help if we have something to give. At the moment, we’re getting very little, yet there are so many asking.”

At the moment the biggest demand is warm clothes for men, women, babies, toddlers, and teenagers, bedding, and school uniforms for Dr Havinga Primary, Bastion High, Laerskool Culembeeck, and Roodebeeck Primary.
