Today, 11 June, we celebrate the birthday of singer-songwriter, Jorga Smith who was born on this day in 1997.
The Walsall-born singer has released numerous singles since 2016, collaborating with the likes of Drake and Kendrick Lamar, among other amazing artists.
Jorga grew up listening to reggae, punk, hip-hop, and R&B, and wrote her first song at the age of 11. She is known for being obsessed with Amy Winehouse’s 2003 debut album Frank as a teenager, and was inspired by the singer’s raw approach to songwriting
Her debut Extended Play (EP), entitled Project 11, was released in November 2016.
In 2018, she released her debut album, Lost and Found, and it peaked at number three on the UK Albums Chart. She won the Brit Critics’ Choice Award and was named the Best British Female Artist.
She was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2019.
