Caxton’s Joburg West branch, under the banner ‘Caxton Cares’, has donated a quantity of much-needed animal food to the Community Led Animal Welfare (CLAW).
The handover was made to the CLAW representatives at their facility on Wednesday, 5 June, by Caxton’s Joburg West distribution manager, Phillip Opperman.

An emotional Cora Bailey, the founder of CLAW, said, “I am tremendously happy. I would like to thank Caxton and everyone that has donated, because people are always coming to our rescue. People all over Roodepoort have brought things for us. I am deeply grateful for everything, I’m really lost for words, but I appreciate everything.”
The donation comes after their property was broken into on Wednesday, 29 May and their security gate locks were cut, while the storeroom was raided.

During the break-in, cleaning materials were stolen together with blankets, towels and some food that was donated the week before.
Cora said they are appealing to the community to assist by donating more towels, blankets, cleaning materials (washing powder and detergent) and F10 sterilising liquid.

CLAW works closely with many communities around the West Rand, including Braamfischerville, Durban Deep and Matholesville. Its aim is to bring new hope to impoverished communities where traditional veterinary services are often unavailable. CLAW provides desperately needed veterinary services to dogs and cats.
Any donations can be dropped off at CLAW or you can contact Cora Bailey on 076 850 4466.
