Lions back for Wits clash
The rivalry can be felt in the air as match day approaches, as neither side will want to lose on Saturday, especially Poorte, who are playing at home.
Roodepoort Rugby Club have their Lion’s players back in the team just before Saturday’s clash against a fierce Wits side – Stokkies Hanekom and Selom Gavor return to Poorte to face the unbeaten Wits team. Both sides are unbeaten and this match promises to be filled with fireworks and a lot to look out for.
Poorte did not play this past weekend, so they are well rested and hopefully have all their blades sharpened and ready for the hunt.
Another interesting point about this match is the element of rivalry as we all know that Poorte has a former Wits Player in its line-up, Lux Ntsepe will face his former club on Saturday and will most likely want to walk away from this reunion on the winning side.
The last match played by the men from Roodepoort was against a struggling Alberton side that provided a lot of surprises in the first half, in the form of two tries by their speedy winger, Thorn Khumalo.
But Poorte got its momentum back and took charge of the match, thanks to outstanding performances from Spook van Wyk, Lux Ntsepe, Byron Godfrey and Derrick Lottering.
The rivalry can be felt in the air as match day approaches, as neither side will want to lose on Saturday, especially with Poorte playing at home.
