Residents are being urged by the Member of the Mayoral Committee for Finance, Funzela Ngobeni, to register to receive their monthly municipal statements electronically.
Ngobeni stated that it is far easier and more convenient to receive your municipal bill via email compared to waiting for a postal delivery, and in this day of a paperless and environmentally friendly society, the City is determined to provide easy and accessible services to its residents.
“[Sending electronic statements] will reduce the amount of money spent on printing and posting municipal statements, money that could be better spent creating better infrastructure, and providing essential and necessary services,” he said.
He also mentioned that there are many benefits to the residents who receive their statements by email. These include being able to view 12 months of backdated statements. Residents will receive statements long before payment is due, and can view their statements from anywhere in world.
