Local police conduct special visits to pre-schools

National Child Protection is observed in South Africa annually to raise awareness of the rights of children as articulated in the Children's Act 38 of 2005.

 

The Roodepoort Police Station officers visited two pre-schools, where talks regarding child safety and inappropriate body touches were held.

On Wednesday, 29 May, Social crime prevention Constable, Shumikazi Mbuli and other officers visited the Boitumelo pre-school in Solplaaitjie, Durban Deep. On Tuesday, 28 May, they visited the Wizzy Wo preschool in Horizon.

As part of the National Child protection week, the children were handed the Rhino and Elephant colouring books, they were taught emergency numbers and also learnt how to salute police officers.

They also sang the policeman’s song to the officers.
