A few have already been opened, including the Isiqalo Opportunity Centre at the Roodepoort Civic Centre in Florida Park.

Amidst her assessment site visits, Leah visited one of the Opportunity Centres under construction at the Danie van Zyl Recreation Centre in Newlands (Region B).

“Residents will soon have access to small business and entrepreneurial support as well as the City’s job seekers’ database and skills training,” said Leah, as she shared the purpose of the centres.

She added that the target date for the launch is June.

She also went out to assess other centres in progress, such as in Alexandra and Klipfontein.

These centres will assist with general business information and advice; business assessments, gap analysis and development plans; business management training seminars, including financial literacy, marketing, sales and operations management; training on tax compliance and company registration; managed workshop, meeting rooms and internet Wi-Fi services for business research; and funding facilitation, including funding product awareness and application support, among other services.
