Panorama Running Club wishes its runners good luck
This year the club has 18 runners that will be participating in the iconic race and 102 medals have been earned over the years.
Panorama Running Club held its Comrades Marathon Pasta Party on the evening of 25 May at the Forno Italiano Restaurant, situated in Strubens Valley’s Retail Crossing.
The main purpose of the event was for the club to wish all its runners that will be participating in this year’s Comrades Marathon good luck.
The 94th Comrades Marathon, which takes place on Sunday, 9 June, will be an up run. The race starts at the Durban City Hall at 5.30am and ends 12 hours later at the Scottsville Race Course, covering a distance of approximately 87km. This will be the 48th up run in Comrades history.

Exciting developments for the 2019 race are the introduction of two new medals, the Isavel Roche-Kelly Medal and the Robert Mtshali Medal, as well as increased prize money for the Top 7 finishers.
The club’s chairperson, Alwin Hempel, opened the event, addressed all present and explained the proceedings for the evening.
During the evening, all the runners were presented with gift bags by the chairperson of the club, and a three-course meal then followed.
This year the club has 18 runners that will be participating in the iconic race. In years gone by, a total of 102 medals have been earned by club members.

One of the club’s promising runners, Setumo Mohapi, said, “My preparations are in order but I still get nightmares about the race. It’s all done now, and we are just waiting for race day. I am hoping that all that I have learned will assist me on the day”.
Team captain, Xana Cloete said, “I’ve had a couple of injuries, but I’ve managed to pull through. Setumo looks promising, he has been training well and he might be responsible for a big surprise at this year’s Comrades”.
The chairperson thanked everybody that attended the Pasta Party Evening and went on to thank all the sponsors involved.
