Man shot by intruder while praying

“The man said he had been praying at the time of the incident"

A man believed to be in his 40s was shot twice by a suspected intruder on Saturday, 25 May, at his house in Maraisburg. He is in a serious condition in hospital.

“The man said he had been praying at the time of the incident and attempted to subdue the intruder who was allegedly pointing a firearm at his daughter,” said Ross Cambell, ER24 spokesperson.

Paramedics arrived at the scene at about 2.50pm and found the man with gunshot wounds to his arm and leg.

Cambell said, “Advanced life support interventions were needed to stabilise the patient before transporting him to a private hospital in the area”.

Various security companies were on the scene, together with the police who will conduct further investigations.
