Johan Marais of the African Snakebite Institute is the most prominent author of books about snakes in Africa. A Complete Guide to the Snakes of Southern Africa, Snakes & Snakebite in Southern Africa and First Aid for Snakebite are among the bestsellers he has written.
Johan will present three-hour lectures at the Cradle Moon in Muldersdrift on 1 June, 19 June and 6 July during which he will be sharing some important information on snake, scorpion and spider awareness; first aid for snake and spider bite/ scorpion sting; and the biology, behaviour and identification of these animals.
Puff adder, snouted cobra, Cape cobra and rinkhals will be used for the handling session. After the lectures, there will be a written test.
