ProTouch team works hard during stage three of Tour de Limpopo
The top GC contenders collectively hit the final climb and with the help of their team mates they managed to keep the pace fast enough to avoid unwanted attacks.
ProTouch Cycling has continued its quest to do better. Stage 3 of the Tour de Limpopo would be the day ProTouch had prepared for and with the difficult climb of 9,3km to the finish, the team knew they had to be patient.
Having trained on the climb, Team ProTouch knew where to soft pedal and where to attack. They covered a number of early moves without expending unnecessary energy, while the silent assassins were waiting.
The breakaway group was allowed to go up the road, but never enjoyed much more than a 90 second advantage. Keeping the break in sight and knowing there was no rider threatening the overall GC positions, the group was allowed to stay out front until the final climb.
Each team would have had its own plan for the final climb and knowing their game plan, the ProTouch team was able to keep calm and execute it at the right time.
ProTouch’s Kent Warwick Main rode a brilliant second half of the climb and his second place result behind the winner was a great reward for his team mates.
The self-funded team only started 3 years ago and, in its maiden year as a Continental Team, was able to test itself against professional outfits like the Dimension Data Team.
ProTouch is proud of their team and the hard work that they have put in to achieve this result. The team is hoping to close off Stage 4 with some great results.
