JMPD fake advert alert

The suspects were found in possession of fake police documents and a fake company registration certificate.

The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) has warned the public not to fall victim to a fake advert that is circulating on social media, claiming that there are vacancies in the JMPD.

“Three youngsters complained to our officers who were on duty outside the court in Pritchard Street on Thursday, 7 March, saying that they had each paid R300 to three individuals who offered them JMPD jobs, but did not get receipts,” said Wayne Minnaar, the JMPD spokesperson.

Minnaar said after receiving the complaints, his officers went to the suspects’ office, which is on the same street as the court, and caught them red-handed as they were about to take money from another victim.

“The suspects were found in possession of fake police documents and a fake company registration certificate. The two females and one male were arrested,” added Minnaar.

They were charged with theft under false pretences at the Johannesburg Central Police Station.
