Women’s Tea a delight as funds are raised for elderly
About 200 guests attended the fundraiser which was held in the hall of the NG Kerk Weltevredenpark.
The Roodepoort Sentrum vir Bejaardes, a private centre for the elderly, held a Women’s Tea on Saturday, 11 May to raise funds.
About 200 guests attended the occasion which was held in the hall of the NG Kerk Weltevredenpark, with well-known actress, TV-presenter and motivational speaker, Lindie Strydom, as the guest speaker.
Pianist Janis Myburgh entertained the women with his delightful piano music while Jo-anie Jacobs enchanted everybody with her inspirational dancing. Maryna le Roux of Something Borrowed sponsored the silver and glassware for the day and Suzy Balicki baked and sponsored the beautiful cake which was up for grabs as a prize in a raffle. The hall was decorated with lavish plants, sponsored by Peba Plants.
Jolene Peyper, manager of the centre, explained the reason for a Women’s Tea.
“We do not receive any government subsidy,” she said. “Our annual Women’s Tea is primarily a function that generates funds, which are always needed to meet our budget. However, we also aim to engage with our residents, their families and friends as well as the rest of the community by marketing ourselves and also by enriching our guests spiritually and inwardly.”
