Man bust with suspected stolen equipment

Man bust by BCI Security with suspected stolen scaffolding and various pieces of scrap metal outside a business premises in the Little Falls area.

 

The occupant of a bakkie carrying suspected stolen equipment was taken to Honeydew Police Station for questioning on Sunday night, 12 May.

BCI Security found the man with scaffolding and various items of scrap metal outside a business premises in the Little Falls area.

According to Rudi Holtzhausen, the company’s operation manager, their K9 Unit and reaction officers followed up on information from one of their K9 handlers stationed at the business premises regarding suspicious movements and noise outside the premises.

“Upon further investigation we found that the suspects had stolen scaffolding and scrap metals just outside the premises. The scaffolding was packed and ready for collection,” Holtzhausen explained, adding that one of their reaction officers noticed a white Toyota bakkie close by and requested the control room to send backup.

“The suspects fled the scene when they realised they had been spotted and that backup could be on its way,” he said.

Holtzhausen said a suspect was found with the bakkie carrying the suspected stolen property.

“Honeydew Police attended to the scene and took the suspect and his bakkie to the station,” he concluded.
