Charter College has chosen the Hillbrow Community Maternity and Obstetrics Unit (MOU) as their 2019 charity.
The College has been collecting baby essentials from the learners, teachers and parents for the past few weeks. Kirsty Anne Ledsham said, “We will continue this project into next term and the rest of our academic year”.
Poverty-stricken mothers at the Hillbrow MOU will benefit from this act of generosity by the school’s Charity Team.
On 6 April, the College spent the whole day packing special gift bags for the new mothers at the Hillbrow MOU. The learners, teachers and the parents wrote beautiful letters wishing the mothers well, and attached them to each bag before some of the learners went to deliver them during the holidays.
Kirsty-Anne Ledsham, the English Head of Department said, “Please donate with love; we have 97 bags done. Often the babies leave the unit wrapped in only newspaper. Let us help our babies.”
The following baby essentials are needed:
• Receiving blankets
• Linen savers
• Sanitary pads/ Dr Whites
• Nappies
• Vests
• Baby-grows
• Baby socks
• Beanies
