Roodepoort residents are warned to be vigilant

There is a significant rise in robberies in the Roodepoort Central Business District, Discovery, Georginia and Roodepoort North.

Roodepoort Police have issued a statement to alert residents about their safety.

According to the statement, the past few weeks have seen a significant rise in robberies in the Roodepoort Central Business District, Discovery, Georginia and Roodepoort North.

The police urged members of the public, more specifically pedestrians, to be vigilant and to keep their belongings safe where they are not visible. If you are listening to music on your earphones and your cellphone is in your hand, you become an easy target for a criminal to rob you of your phone.

Do not walk alone; rather walk in groups and avoid the mentioned crime hot spots, especially after dark, if possible.
