South Road construction to finally commence

Community's main concern was how they would benefit from this project

 

After tomorrow, 4 May at 2pm applications for the CLO (community liaison officer) position with regard to the construction of a bridge on South Road in Lindhaven will no longer be accepted.

Yesterday evening, a community meeting was held with the concerned residents of Lindhaven about the construction of the bridge.

The core purpose of the meeting that was held on Thursday, 2 May at Hoërskool Die Adelaar was to introduce the construction company that will be working on the bridge. The appointed construction company is Mayibuye Construction.

Officials from the Johannesburg Road Agency (JRA), together with officials from Econocom attended the meeting. According to Econocom’s Administrator, Nonhlanhla Ndlovu, the company will be the ‘middle man’ in this project. They will oversee the project to ensure that it proceeds accordingly to plan.

Also on the agenda of the meeting was the appointment of a CLO (community liaison officer).

The community’s main concern was how they would benefit from this project and it was explained that SMMEs from the community will be employed. The project is due to start before the end of May after the CLO has been appointed.

Applicants for the CLO position must reside in Ward 71, and applications must include a CV, proof of residence and a copy of the applicant’s ID.

Applications must be dropped off at the ground floor of the Civic Centre, 100 Christiaan de Wet Road, Florida Park.
