Local boxing promoter nominated for awards
This Kagiso promoter from Team Dida Boxing Promotions has been nominated in the Most Promising Promoter of the Year category.
One of the West Rand’s biggest boxing promoters, Meme Dipheko, will again be competing for silverware at the upcoming Boxing South Africa Awards for 2018.
This Kagiso-based promoter from Team Dida Boxing Promotions has been nominated in the Most Promising Promoter of the Year category against two other promoters, Xolani Mampunye of Last-Born Promotions and Zandile Malinga of Starline Boxing Promotions.

The awards will take place on 17 May, 2019 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.
Meme shared her thoughts about the nomination. “It feels great to realise that what we do for boxers and the community is being recognised, although we did not expect any credit. It’s really an honour.
“We have always been self-motivated in improving boxing within our communities, so being awarded will just be the cherry on top,” an optimistic Meme said.
Meme, alongside her former boxer husband, Dida, broke into the promotions industry three years ago and they have since hosted at least nine elite tournaments that have attained recognition in the form of nominations for various awards.
“We have hosted three SA title fights, three WBF All Africa title fights, and three Gauteng title fights,” said Dida, who believes they deserve more respect in the fraternity.
Fast-forward to after the awards … Meme has announced that they will be hosting another tournament in June. “We will be hosting a SA title tournament on 29 June at the Kagiso Memorial and Recreation Cenre in Kagiso.
